Adjustments

After going through the rough cut and without completing the entire filming, it was time to change up EVERYTHING. Yes, everything. Well, almost. We changed the plot because this was the point in time when we realised that there was way too much going on and in such a limited time.  Major adjustments had to be made and everything and all our effort was a... learning experience :) (hehe).

The first scene backfired because there were many issues that followed. One of them was that it might have been difficult to get permission to film in a public place with the fear of getting any equipment stolen. Another issue that followed was that “was it a too open place?” It was a question that how were there no suspects and how would have the male actor not seen it coming.

One other reason was that the second scene was changed because there was too much going on for a two-minute film opening and everything was rushed with too much plot.

So what were the adjustments? Here's an idea of the new plot:
Yes, new plot. Yes, we changed the idea but not entirely.

So first, we start off with a male in his mid 20's working late on his laptop in an office setting. Since it's late, there's no one else there.
Then when he leaves the office room and starts walking into the hallway, a girl can be seen creepily staring(from the dark). At this point in time, we don't know who that girl is or what she wants creating an enigma.
Moving on from that, he(the guy) gets a call where he tells the person on the other line that he'd be working late.
While he's on the line, the girl can be seen walking with a knife (assuming towards him)
As soon as he finishes the dialogue, the girl is seen behind him, holding up a knife.
The screen turns black and the guy can be seen on the floor with blood surrounding him.
Later, the scene ends and it transitions to six months later where the girl is going to a coffee shop to work on some documents (this is a change in the role) and this time the guy is back. Apparently, the guy is alive and staring through the window.
The scene cuts off and the title is shown, "Vendetta".
THE END XD

Editing Draft

As you can see in the video above, it didn't go as planned. Although this was a rough cut, we saw that there was a reflection of one of our team members and this was the point where maybe we thought we had too much plot and way too much going on for a movie opening. This was the time we realised there was a lot of work to do and not much time.

Shooting Day Two

For shooting day two, we shot the scene for the girl getting ready. This was a scene, just like the first shooting, we wanted to get extra shots and wanted everything to go plan. Just simple shots of getting up and getting ready.

In the first image, we're setting up the camera and since we wanted it to be placed there, we used a few objects like a box and other items to get the right height to act as a tripod because the tripod was too large in height to be placed there.

In the second one, it's just me giving some last-minute directions.

Shooting Day 1

For shooting day one, we had everything go according to plan. We didn't want to rush anything so we took one scene a day. For the first shooting day, we decided to shoot the getting ready scene for the guy. This was because the 'getting ready scene' was the easiest to get done and shoot and required less planning than the first scene,  which was an open murder scene.

Here are some behind the scenes for the shooting:

The first shot is also a scene like others that we shot just in case. It's better to have extra bits and pieces rather than having to reshoot.

Audience Research

After we were done, there were a few people like family, friends and classmates to review our film opening. There is always room for improv...
