Editing scene one

It took us a while to get here, but eventually, we did. Everything started to go according to plan. And because of starting the editing, it gave us a little more hope that we will get through this.

Shooting Day 3(Hopefully our last shoot)

So before our minor inconvenience. we started shooting the girl's part. We started by shooting the part in the coffee shot because we wanted to get done with the daytime scene first.

Here are some behind the scene shots:

Then, we moved on to our second location on the same day. Luckily, both of the locations were 15 minutes away. When we got there, we pretty much reshot everything. Instead of a camera gimble though, we used a phone gimble and shot.

Other behind the scenes:

Recasting

As much as our group hates things not going to plan, or not working out, destiny had something else planned. :( Anyways, we were about to shoot (the last day of shooting) where we wanted everything to go to plan, it didn't.

The male lead that we had cast, had to cancel last minute. When I say last minute, I mean we were waiting to shoot and we get a call "I can't make it." With the deadline so close and having everything planned out, we decided to text/call any guy that was free and would agree to act. Weird enough, it worked out. We cast a guy, (Farhan Arshad) who agreed to everything and we explained the plot along the way.

New Mood Board

Making Props

For a significant amount of the props, I had a contribution on what to do and how to do it. Before, we were deciding to use a real knife as we only needed to lift it up and not stab, but as there was a huge risk issue, we decided that someone should make it.

To start off, we got some reflective, silver cardboard paper. Then, I searched up some ideas of knives to get an idea of what the shape should be (my search had become questionable after this). Moving on, after I  cut the shape I was wondering what we could stick it to so it looks real. For that, I grabbed an actual knife to examine it and then decided to use a spatula.

For the blood, we used some gelatin, food colouring and some water. The colour was a little less pigmented compared to what we wanted, so we used some dry-erase marker ink. Since the fake blood was left out for some time, it began to clump a little so that intentionally made it more realistic.

Risk Assessments

For the Risk Assessments, we tumbled on upon only a few issues.

The issues were :

  • Knife - This would have been a major issue if we used an actual knife. Luckily, to take precautionary measures, I made the knife by using a spatula and some reflective cardboard.
  • Traffic - In one of the scenes, we shot outdoors with ongoing traffic. We would wait according to the traffic, then start shooting.

Making Adjustments Again

As much as it hurt, we had to make adjustments all over again. The shoot didn't exactly go to plan and the other shoots were basically a waste because we changed the plot. So, because of all these pilling things that went wrong, we had to sit together and plan out all the details to the second and at this point we were just hoping for the best

Reshoot day 1

As a lot of things backfired in the first two shoots, this shoot wasn't any better. For starters, we started shooting an hour late. Then, this time, we wanted to have proper equipment, so we rented a camera gimble  and we got some lighting equipment along with it.

First we shot the car scene. and for that we had to plan accordingly on point. This backfired, because we were unprepared. We had to improvise and kept shooting the same car scene over and over until we got it right. It was specifically difficult as the camera gimble was heavy and to hold it continuously for around an hour was not an easy job. (Credits to Rameen Osman).

It was getting late but we had a lot of work left to do so we shot the office scene. Or at least, we tried to.

Location Scouting

For our new locations, we scarped any previous location ideas we had with our initial idea. For the first scene, we decided to shoot it in one of our teacher's offices and we'll use the hallway down to the lobby of our school to create an office vibe. We plan to do this at night time so there are no students and to show that it is nighttime.

For the location of the second scene. we plan to film near a coffee shop. There'll be a parking lot and with that, a coffee shop giving a more professional workspace atmosphere.

Audience Research

After we were done, there were a few people like family, friends and classmates to review our film opening. There is always room for improv...
